Dr. Robert Johnson Receives ADA Cure Award

In celebration of Camp Needlepoint's 50th anniversary, the American Diabetes Association Cure Award was given to Robert Johnson, MD, of the River Falls Medical Clinic.  Dr. Johnson is a physician who spent 16 years working as a doctor at Camp Needlepoint and 18 years fundraising to send children to Camp Needlepoint. The funds raised by Dr. Johnson helped provide children with scholarships so then can attend camp.

Camp Needlepoint is a summer camp where children with diabetes can go to learn more about the disease and the best ways to manage it so they can lead a happy, healthy life. The camp is put on by the ADA to provide a safe and fun camping experience with proper medical supervision.

The 8th Annual American Diabetes Association Gala was held on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the St. Paul RiverCentre. This black-tie event focused on the mission of the American Diabetes Association by emphasizing the fact that every 21 seconds someone is diagnosed with diabetes. The evening will also serve as a celebration of Camp Needlepoint's 50th anniversary.
