  • * NIH funded study: nurse-led care coordination significantly improves care of heart disease in western Wisconsin
    Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women, but most patients do not achieve all the elements of optimal cardiac care. A study funded by the National Institutes of Health found that the number of patients with heart disease who received optimal care increased by 49 percent when a nurse-care coordinator team managed the care.     The River Falls, Ellsworth and Spring Valley Medical Clinics are looking for women aged 25-40 with children under 10 in the home; and women aged 50-65 without children in the home who have visited our clinic in the past year. Each participant will be served a light lunch/dinner and $100 for their participation. The research groups will be conducted via casual women’s groups tentatively scheduled for February 11.
